James Dobson and other Swine

Rev Ted Haggerd

Mike Jones
Ted Haggard, my book, “I Had to Say Something”, and the James Dobson connection.

Let me begin by looking at the James Dobson connection. When people say, “I wish we could nail Dobson”, they are really missing how my story had an impact on him. You see, Haggard was Dobson’s baby. Dobson is the one who pushed for Haggard to be President of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). So when Haggard was exposed it scared Dobson so bad that is why he was not on Ted’s restoration team. This really did damage Dobson and his credibility as far as a judge of character. Ask the people down in Colorado Springs, this really did quiet Dobson this last year. And who cares who Dobson picks as President of United States. We can now question his judge of character.

When I saw the recent film, “The Bible Tells Me So”, I wanted to stand up and shout in the theater, “This is why I did what I did people”!

Recently there have been articles regarding the crack in the evangelical political movement. Not once have I seen any reference to me and Ted Haggard. Now that I look back over this last year, my story did have an impact on the political scene. Remember, Harpers Magazine stated that no Pastor in America had more sway over the political direction of the Evangelical movement.

When I exposed Ted Haggard I exposed myself and my life will never be the same. But most people just don’t get it. Most people cannot look past the headlines: “Mike Jones, prostitute; drug dealer.

That is why I wrote the book. But unless people take the time to read it and understand the big picture, they will be as shallow as the Religious Right. One thing I have learned this last year is that no one owns the word hypocrisy. It is just as much in the gay “community” as in the church.

When I wrote the book, I wanted to try to educate people why I refer to myself as an “Escort versus a Prostitute”. When men came to see me, in so many situations is was much more than just about sex, it was about emotions. If you want to ignore this contrast consider this, I touched and held men in my arms whose bodies were ravaged by cancer and AIDS. I held men who were dying of Alzheimer’s and Leukemia. Does that sound like a prostitute? And as far as being a drug dealer, please, I only hooked him up with someone at his request. I have never dealt drugs, period!

But mostly my book deals with the struggle I endured that ultimately lead to my decision. It was by no means easy or calculated. I said from the beginning that this was just the tip of an iceberg, a big tip, but just the tip. Look at what has happen since. Hypocrites are being exposed and rightfully so. Until people are honest with themselves, this scenario will happened many more times and destroy many more lives.

In public I have been spit on, called a whore, and told to go to hell. And that is just by the gay “community”. Imagine what the religious and straight population has said about me. So all those who have criticized me, I say, “Show me your BALLS and do something that will make a difference in the world”.

Does Mike Jones give Senator Larry Craig a/k/a Ann Miller

I hold great admiration for Mike Jones. In my opinion he has been vilified by some of the gay press. Of course the HRC is not going celebrate his success at exposing one of the most harmful hypocrites of this decade, because he fall out of the glamour mode. Mike has a book to sell and was recently taken by surprise at a Palm Springs radio station.

I asked Mike Jones, flat out, no bullshit did you tap with the Senator? Here is his response;

i do not want the sex part out on Craig right now. Craig meets me, I only advertised on Gay sights, I hope people are not that dumb. I will tell you this, a couple of media new sources know about my dealings with Craig. The issue really is not about the sex, it is that Craig met with me, a gay man who advertised on gay sites. But those news sources may release the details.

He also released the letter below. Stay tuned to see if the Senator Ann Miller story ends with a happy ending.

Let me start first with the radio interview in Palm Springs. I have been accused of promising them the Larry Craig story. There is more than just what you could hear and see. Here is the email I sent the host.

Hi Bill. I have heard very good things about your show and about you. Glad to hear things are going well. I have done a couple of interviews today preceding my book signing tonight.

I understand I am booked for your show Thursday night. I was wondering and actually hoping we could perhaps change that to Wednesday night. It would work out so much better as I do have much on my schedule while in California which includes seeing my father which has been very difficult since my story broke.

I would assure you this would be a great interview; I could offer some information that has never been discussed before if you would be willing to change. I appreciate your consideration.

Thank you,

Mike Jones

Do you see the name Larry Craig in it? I did not promise them anything about Craig but that is what I am being accused of. In fact, the host had not read my book he was interviewing me about so I was going to give a bit more information about New Life Church because I was trying to change interview days, not Larry Craig. And after the interview was over, Bill the host apologized to me and left me a voice mail apologizing for the “Gotcha” interview. He felt so bad about it.

It was a set up and I fell for it. I did not want to open my mouth about the story, but they wanted something and I gave them more than I should have. But with the TV stations there and radio management there I apparently gave them what they wanted, a big story for a small station. I will take responsibility for what came out of it.

As far as trying to make money of these situations as I am being accused of, please consider this information:

I did not attempt blackmail on Ted Haggard. I actually could be on the Church payroll if I blackmailed him and still have my private life intact. Of course if I had done that, he still would be condemning gays and the evangelical voting block would still be as powerful as always and I would have money in the bank instead of the $500 I have now. Remember, Harpers magazine stated that no pastor held more political sway than Haggard.

Did I attempt to blackmail Craig. No. I could have though but I thought it was more important to keep him to his word of resigning instead of me making money. I had and have nothing to gain from this situation. I have learned that there are others that have had dealings with Craig. But they do not want to come forward. I seem to be the only one who has the guts to do it and tell the truth, for which I am condemned for.

Here is a detailed account of my situation regarding the Craig story. First I would like to thank the people that can really see what it is and supported me from Haggard to this. But mostly this is a response to the people who are so quick to judge.

Here is a big piece of the story that people do not know and who are accusing me of riding the wave for attention.

First of all I did not have a long term situation with Craig. I only saw him one time. I did not know who he was until his recent story broke. When I saw him on the news, I said to myself, “I cannot believe this hypocrite, he came to see me.” There are a couple of things that made him stand out to me for me to remember like, “Do you follow politics Mike? Then when I said yes he quickly changed the subject. Right then I said to myself, this guy is a politician. Certainly not my first. But his question was a give away. Through sources that I gave for a time frame that I say he saw me, it was verified that he did travel to Colorado during that time. So you see, that was my verification to myself that that was him. You might say coincidence but really, I remember him and how would I guess the date from several years ago. Several news organizations have had my story for six weeks at least. I was in constant communication with them. I told them I did not want my story out unless Craig reversed his promise to resign. The story would have probably run but I told them to hold off. And if I was doing it for publicity I would have run with it immediately. And by the way all the major news organizations wanted me on TV with this story. But did you see me on FOX or CNN regarding this? NO. I did not make this about me. I made it about being honest and holding people to their promises. Once again the word is hypocrisy. And remember which Senator voted against the Hate Crimes Bill! Sorry, I need to stand up and speak!

When we judge so quickly we in a sense are no better than the religious right. We hate it when they judge because of dislikes, but many people have done the same to me. If you dislike me because of jealously, or lack of information and knowledge, then I cannot change that. I am not perfect and have never claimed to be, but I, Mike Jones, have no regrets for who I am.
