For 25 years, Sandra Bernhard has been challenging fans and critics with her knife-edged humor, satire and emotive performances on film, television and stage. \“An Evening with Sandra Bernhard\” includes comedy, commentary and music, and Bernhard appears with musical director/pianist, Mitch Kaplan and guitarist Pam Adams.The SF Weekly praised Bernhard, \“One moment, her voice is lulling you into a wistful sigh; the next, she's knocking you back several rows with it.\”
Bernhard's last show, \“Hero Worship,\” featured a five-piece band and was a post-September 11th tribute to Bernhard's commitment to irony—that it, too, has survived September 11th. The show featured a range of musical numbers (some original and some covers). It was a fearless attempt to show that life must continue and the show must go on. Other notable performances include her participation in the \“Stormy Weather Benefit '98,\” organized by Don Henley, which also featured Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell, as well as \“The Elton John Tribute for Broadway Cares.\”
Her critically acclaimed 1998, one-woman Broadway hit, \“I’m Still Here...Damn It!\” which played the Booth Theater, had critics raving. Created and conceived by Bernhard, the show first ran for five months off-Broadway at New York’s Westbeth Theatre, where it garnered ecstatic reviews. The New York Times called Bernhard’s performance: \“An angst driven, foul-mouthed poison-laced joy ride that banks and careens frenetically through the worlds of fashion, celebrity, rock, and religion … In her own voice, unfiltered, [Bernhard is a living, breathing bonfire.\” The show went on to play sold-out runs in Boston and San Francisco, and one of the Bay Area performances was filmed for an HBO special (\“I’m Still Here…Damn It!\” which aired in the summer of 1998) photographed by cinematographer Haskel Wexler, and produced and directed by Marty Callner.
Since her first film accolades in 1983 in Martin Scorseses’, \“The King of Comedy\” featuring Jerry Lewis and Robert De Niro, Bernhard has since appeared in numerous films including \“Inside Monkey Zetterland,\” \“Hudson Hawk\” and more recently, \“Dinner Rush.\” Throughout her career, Bernhard’s formidable presence has also had a place on television. From 1991-1996, she portrayed Nancy on \“Roseanne,\” and has had guest starring roles on \“Ally McBeal,\” \“Chicago Hope\” and \“Will & Grace.\” She has appeared on \“Late Night with David Letterman,\” as well as \“The Tonight Show,\” \“Rosie O’Donnell\” and \“The View.\” She hosted the season premiere of \“MadTV\” and the Bravo network recently profiled her career. In 2001, Bernhard hosted her own talk show, \“The Sandra Bernhard Experience\” for A&E television.
Along with writing for performance, Bernhard has put her musings into book form. Currently working on her fourth collection, her books, just as her shows, are full of personal insights, introspective rants, prose and essays. She made her publishing debut in 1987 with \“Confessions of a Pretty Lady\” and followed that up with \“Love, Love, and Love.\” Her third book, \“May I Kiss You on the Lips, Miss Sandra?\” was published in 1998, prior to her Broadway run. Rich Merritt was born in the fundamentalist enclave of Greenville, SC where he endured and survived many MANY years of fundamentalist brainwashing. After much therapy (for which he has yet to be reimbursed by his preacher or his mother) he's pretty much okay with it all, although occasionally he has been known to wake up at 3:00 am begging for an exorcist to remove the demon Madonna implanted in his soul with 1983's \"Burnin' Up.\"
His 2005 memoir Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star (you don't need to read the book, just the title) was voted \"Best Erotic Memoir\" by the InsightOut Book Club. His first novel, Code of Conduct, will be published by Kensington Books in January 2008. It's also about gay Marines, but these have a lot more sex than Rich did in his memoir. Or in his life.
Presenstly he's adapting Code of Conduct as the best man-on-man play ever (LOTS of nudity) and he's working on a more serious novel about coming of age in fundamentalism.";

Jerri works with various charities across the nation and in her spare time enjoys painting, hiking, cooking (she is also a part time private chef), photography, writing, reading, camping, and her favorite yearly event Burning Man. EXPERIENCE:
A prominent public figure, Mr. Brown has garnered over 25 years in public service focused primarily on public safety, preparedness and emergency management. Mr. Brown led the U.S. federal response to over 160 Presidential declared disasters, which have included some of the largest and worst in human history:
- 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City and the Pentagon;
- Columbia shuttle disaster in 2003;
- Bam Iran earthquake;
- 2003 historic California and Western U.S. Wildfire season;
- the unprecedented string of hurricanes that swept the Southeastern United States in 2004 and 2005;
- the tsunami in South Asia; and
- Hurricane Katrina.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY:
Nominated by President George W. Bush to several U.S. Homeland Security positions, Mr. Brown was twice confirmed by the United States Senate. President Bush nominated Mr. Brown as the first Under Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. That nomination was preceded by his unique experience as the President’s appointee to lead a White House Transition Planning Office team for the newly created Department, making him the only Presidential nominee to work in a legacy agency (FEMA), on the transition team for the new Department, and as one of only four Under Secretaries overseeing the new Department. He also served on the Department’s Investment Review Board, overseeing the $41 billion budget and investment decisions of the Department.
Mr. Brown served as the U.S. Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) Civil Emergency Planning Committee. In that role he negotiated and mediated agreements among NATO member countries. His NATO experience led to numerous diplomatic missions throughout Europe. He was a member of the U.S.-Great Britain Contact Working Group, which sought to strengthen homeland security initiatives between the two countries.
As the leader of a delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security, he was at the forefront of helping European nations understand the homeland security initiatives and concerns of the United States.
Mr. Brown negotiated a ten-year cooperative agreement between the United States and the Russian Federation. He led an intensive effort at furthering cooperation between the U.S. and Russia in the area of homeland security, domestic response to disasters and international cooperation in responding to terrorist events outside the two countries. He has traveled extensively in Russia and developed contacts and relationships throughout the Putin government.
Prior to his nomination as Under Secretary of Homeland Security, President Bush appointed him as General Counsel to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the President nominated Mr. Brown as the Deputy Director of FEMA, where he oversaw and managed more than 13,000 full and part time employees and a $12 billion budget of FEMA, the National Flood Insurance Administration, the U.S. Fire Administration, the National Disaster Medical System, the Nuclear Incident Response Teams, the Domestic Emergency Support Team, the Office of National Security Coordination and the Office of International Affairs.
During Mr. Brown’s tenure, he led FEMA through its greatest period of activity in its 26-year history.
Prior to joining FEMA, he practiced law in Colorado and Oklahoma, where he served as a bar examiner on ethics and professional responsibility for the Oklahoma Supreme Court and as a hearing examiner for the Colorado Supreme Court. He had been appointed as a special prosecutor in police disciplinary matters. While attending law school he was appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee of the Oklahoma Legislature as the Finance Committee Staff Director, where he oversaw state fiscal issues.
During his legal career, Mr. Brown negotiated manufacturing contracts in Brazil, France and Argentina. He has negotiated oil and gas offshore drilling concessions with government of Peru. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority, a private electrical utility. He has served in numerous nonprofit associations and was the first Commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Association, where he oversaw the implementation of ethics and management systems.
His background in emergency management began with his career in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he served as Assistant to the City Manager. In that position, he worked closely with emergency services, including the police and fire departments, and coordinated the City’s development of emergency contingency plans and the creation of an emergency operations center.

She released an album \“Goddess in Progress\” which contained the hits \“Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun\”, \“I like 'em Big and Stupid\” and \“Cause I'm a Blonde\”, and \“Earth Girls Are Easy\” - then went on to write and star in the movie version of the song.
On of her favorite roles is Medusa, in \“Medusa Dare to be truthful\” her spoof of Madonna’s \“Truth or Dare\” for which she received a Cable Ace Award and the Writer’s Guild Award, which led to her own MTV show \“Just Say Julie\” (both available at juliebrown.com!)
She went on to play Ms. Deemer, the lesbian gym teacher in the movie and TV series \“Clueless\”, starred in \“The Edge\” for Fox television and created \“Stripmall\” for Comedy Central.
Recently Julie had the chance to play Squeaky in the upcoming movie \“Fat Rose and Squeaky\” starring Cecily Tyson and Louise Fletcher called \“Fat Rose and Squeaky\” and experience she calls, \“fun and psychotic!\”

Infamously, before the All-Around competition began, the vault was accidentally set 5cm (2 inches) too low -highly significant in a sport where the success of an element rests on spatial awareness and very small margins. A number of gymnasts made uncharacteristic errors, including Elise Ray and Annika Reeder, who was too injured to continue after crashing a vault.
Khorkina complained about the vault to an Australian official after the warm-up but was ignored. It wasn't until Australian Allana Slater echoed Khorkina's sentiments in the next rotation that the error was corrected. Khorkina had been in the lead after the first rotation, but came to the mis-measured vault in the second and crashed on her first attempt. She then fell in her uneven bars routine. Shortly afterwards, she was formally informed that the height of the vault had been corrected, but it was too late. Those affected were allowed to perform their vaults again - but their scores on the other apparatus would stand. Khorkina declined the opportunity and finished 10th. Her scores on bars and vault from the preliminaries, plus what she received on beam and floor in the all-around, would easily have won her the Olympic all-around title.
The initial winner, Andreea R?ducan of Romania was stripped of her medal after a positive drug test; she had used a banned cold medicine. Her teammate Simona Am'nar was officially named the 2000 Olympic All-Around champion, though she herself has never accepted this and gave her gold medal to Raducan. In several interviews following the Olympics, Khorkina referred to the incident as a \"black spot in my soul\".";

I was born today…not 30 or 40 years ago or whatever my real age might be. That’s all perception anyway, isn’t it? After all isn’t time, the almighty clock, which we all seem to worship and give selfishly unto, created by man himself? For me there is no night and day measured in increments. There is only existence in our universe where time is one with all of what is reality. Aging as we know it is simply a derivative of existing. In summary I am my own clock…damn it!
I now call Dallas home but spent my early life growing up in rural Texas. I’ve also lived in Chicago a while back which was a blast. I’ve visited most of the major cities in the US, save New York City, which I haven’t personally corrupted yet. I am fully aware that NYC does a good job of that own its own but I do plan to personally check its progress at some point in the near future. I love traveling and visiting new places and people. However, nothing compares to a warm sandy beach scattered with palm trees and beautiful tropical flora.
Professionally I am a software analyst. Sometimes I think my sole purpose in that capacity is to piss developers off. I break their code and make them fix it to the point where the clientele can’t break it easily themselves. It’s a boring job but somebody’s got to enjoy it.
In the online virtual world known as Second Life (SL) I’m known as Lika Goodliffe and have become quite popular in the game. SL was originally started as a place where everyone can build their own virtual objects and show them off to other members. As it grew it became a social meeting place for thousands of residents. Soon an economy developed that was run by the residents that now numbers in the millions. The idea may not be original but the developing concept and platform is. There’s simply no other like it.
I quickly learned the ropes of the business community within SL and began building entire simulators for other residents. Everything from elaborate residential homes to shopping malls to night clubs and furnishings…exciting stuff! A large number of people have made small fortunes using the SL online world as their medium either for 3D modeling, designing apparel for SL residents as well as outside companies who conduct business in the virtual world. Some of these companies promote their products to the residents of SL and others use the medium to conduct private business and have built their own virtual corporate offices where they conduct online virtual meetings using their avatars in place of real people.
I’ve always been very interested in politics, for which I claim no responsibility of its corruption, as well as pop culture and sub-cultures. Recently, I found myself very fascinated in the local politics of Dallas and began writing on local media blog sites. I managed to get published a few times without asking. I’m not sure if I was published because my words were admired or reviled. In any case, I can now claim myself as a published author even if my work did end up in 120,000 trash cans more than once. It was this blogging experience where I met Jack Jett and PumpUpTheBlog was born. At that point something clicked and the rest is the future as I like to say.";
